I’m writing this to officially submit my evidence for “Interconnectedness 101.” As many of you know, I’m obsessed with how everything is linked, and today the stars didn’t just align—they practically did a choreographed dance.

The theme of weaving the threads of life has been a recurring one over the last few months. To me, it’s proof that The Universe is hard at work.

As of 2026, this blog will shift from a singular voice (mine) to a tapestry of three like-minded professionals.

We’ve also added an intern, and I refer to her as “The Godsend” in the Other Room. Alyssa is our new practicum student at Shepherd Way, and frankly, she’s a bit of a unicorn: a Gardner-Webb adjunct English professor, tech-wizard, and curriculum developer who spent five years in England. And someone who now wants to be a therapist. She will fit right in with us.

The Creative “Thread” of the moment was when I spent the morning on the phone with my book designer, Andy, discussing the cover and formatting for my upcoming children’s book. We were deep in the weeds talking about quilts, thread, and the metaphor of weaving when the first coincidence hit.

This book will be a tapestry of three generations: my grandmother’s observations, your own journey of confession and advocacy, and Makensie’s clinical and personal reality as a mother.

While we were marveling at the “interconnectedness,” an added layer of “whoa!” As Andy and I were describing weaving and quilts as an analogy to lie (and my upcoming book), Makensie tells me Alyssa was sitting in the group room… knitting.

The Grand Finale.

To top off this masterclass in “The World is Small,” today would have been my Grandma Shepherd’s 101st birthday. So, on her day, a new student joins “Shepherd Way” to help us weave a new wing of the business while I’m literally talking about thread.

If this isn’t a sign that the road we’re on is the right one, I don’t know what is!
